Motion for Continuance
The LSPD wishes to humbly ask of the court for the opportunity to put this into continuance. Unfortunately, with Miss Murphy deciding to suddenly not DA anymore, and the establishment of the LSPD legal team happening not long after, and then the dissolution of the DAO, the officers did not realize that agreeing to the proposed schedule would mean that they, themselves, would have to prosecute the case. The legal team was made aware today that this case needs a prosecutor, and now there is not enough time to find one, and then enter evidence into discovery or prep for such a serious trial with serious implications. The Officers who have agreed to the time and dates above will be spoken to.
We are hoping the courts can grant us this in the wake of all the upheaval of the DA not DA'ing anymore, the DAO being dissolved, and our Legal Team still being built. I, unfortunately, cannot prosecute this case, but wished to get this posted in a timely manner so we can hopefully arrange a prosecutor moving forward.
