Items to be Searched for and Seized:
Illegally owned guns, including class 1, class 2 and class 3 weapons.
Any contraband related to cultivating and/or selling drugs.
Probable Cause:
Earlier in the day, Mr. Dubois attempted to sell a sawed off shotgun to Michael Schofield. Dubois shared his contact information with Mr. Schofield, which was labeled in his phone as “Michel Dubois.” Schofield reported this attempt to sell weapons to 301 N. Hamilton.Schofield, who was present on a ride along with Hamilton, was able to identify Mr. Dubois as he was evading from police in the same vehicle he used the previous day when he robbed Officer Ganabi. Other officers were also able to identify Dubois during those chases, resulting in several instances of PID.
Hamilton noticed later on Greg’s Spot, that the same phone number that was attached to Dubois’ contact information was also the same as an advertisement touting that the poster is “selling anything.” She engaged in an undercover conversation with Dubois through texts, and he admitted to having weapons to sell, which types of weapons, the prices of the weapons, and even arranged a sale with Hamilton.
Dubois was eventually caught during a chase with officers, and he ran into the Banner hotel and shot at police. Units lost visual with him, and five minutes later he was found hiding in an elevator. He opened fire at officers and was incapacitated in return. Dubois gave permission for LSPD to search his hotel room and the containers within. Hamilton and Burke found several plant pots, and $310,161 in cash. There is a note on the Youga Classic from Sgt. Arthur Sharpe, noting “Seems likely to be a weed stash/grow vehicle.” When asked about this further, Sharpe said that Dubois was found in the van at the agriculture store in Grapeseed by a Deputy. The Deputy asked what he was doing there, and he said he was “getting supplies” and then shot the Deputy down. This van was located via BOLO later at a potential grow operation location.
We also have evidence that Mr. Dubois has been posting advertisements asking for people to sell him hunting rifles and ammunition (IR 6308), meaning that he may be in possession of rifles and ammo without a valid firearm license.
For which the LSPD provides the following evidence:
