State’s Response to Defense Requests:
Regarding the alleged photo:
The State acknowledges that Ms. Li mentioned a photograph during her interrogation. However, we’ve seen no indication that the photo was ever actually presented, submitted, or exists in evidence. It’s unclear whether the photo was ever real or whether it was simply referenced as part of her explanation, and is unclear as to its exculpatory relevance. Regardless, we are conducting a good faith review to see if anything matching her description turns up. That said, it’s entirely possible Ms. Li left with it or that the photo was never in State custody to begin with.
Interrogation transcripts:
Both transcripts have already been shared with the defense. They are on record above and available for review.
Investigative reports:
We are currently reviewing the relevant investigative documents and preparing them for release. We’re doing this carefully to avoid compromising witness safety or releasing sensitive information. They will be provided in due course.
Additional document (unspecified):
We do not have any such document in our possession. And does not exist.
5–6. Motion to Strike Irrelevant Requests:
The State moves to strike these final two requests. They have nothing to do with the charges Ms. Li is facing. This case is about her possession and transport of a large quantity of illegal firearms and explosives—eighteen in total, including restricted weapons and grenades.
What the defense is attempting here is to sidetrack the court with issues related to other people, most notably Mr. Pepstein, who—importantly—was acquitted due to a lack of evidence. These are not his charges, this is not his case. These requests introduce irrelevant and prejudicial material and risk turning this into a trial about something it’s not.
Additionally, the documents referenced aren't even held by the SIB. They’re LSPD files, outside the scope of this case, and not relevant to the charges being prosecuted.
The State respectfully asks that these portions of the request be denied and struck from the record to keep the focus where it belongs—on the evidence, charges, and facts relevant to Ms. Li.
